I’ve had a tongue-in-cheek post-in-waiting for a while now that would look at traits I notice in online cultures as a way of understanding whether or not a particular service is for you or your library. It had been percolating, percolating, percolating. . . and then I read Greg Schwartz’s post on Managing His Own Social [...]
Last year, I created a post of Ideas for the New Year as a way to mark my progress over the year. Overall, I don’t think I did too bad in completing them. Here are the ideas, and how well I’ve done in completing them.
New Website for the library.

This is kind of like the “day in the life of” except it is a “night in the life of.” I can’t remember the times, but consider that most of this stuff happened between 8pm last night (Tuesday) until I posted the final blog post today.
I logged onto Meebo for fun.

I had a great time on a short visit to St. John’s Newfoundland to do the Getting to Library 2.0 workshops prior to CLA. Well whaddayaknow! I am published in an open source journal. I have a short opinion piece called ‘“That’s ‘E’ for ‘Everyone’”: The Future of E-Learning in Public Libraries where I argue the thinking for e-Learning has to change for it to fit in the vision of the public library.
So I will be presenting with Kelli Wooshue at NSLA on October 1st about Web 2.0, using a lesson plan similar to what we did when we presented to our management team.
If you haven’t heard about this in previous posts, essentially we get people to do very specific tasks with a Web 2.0 technology and [...]
